Judges, Legislators & State Police Retired judges, legislators and State police receive different health coverage than other retired State employees. Please click on the tabs below for more information. Judges & Legislators Pre-65 Medical/Prescription Coverage Retired State judges and legislators may elect one of three plans: Anchor, Anchor Plus and Anchor Choice. There are no State subsidies towards the cost of coverage. The Anchor, Anchor Plus and Anchor Choice plans available to retired judges and legislators offer identical coverage as the same plans for active employees except for the following: No requirement for primary care physician (PCP) coordination of care (i.e., no higher co-pay or coinsurance for visiting specialists without a PCP referral) No place of service tiering feature for major imaging services (i.e., major imaging services such as CT/PET scans and MRIs are NOT covered in full after deductible even if a freestanding imaging center is used) The State does not open or contribute to HSAs for retired judges Premium rates Plan Documents Summary of Benefits and Coverage A brief plan outline Retiree Anchor Plus SBC (2024) PDF file, less than 1mbmegabytes Retiree Anchor SBC (2024) PDF file, less than 1mbmegabytes Retiree Anchor Choice SBC (2024) PDF file, less than 1mbmegabytes Summary Plan Description ("Benefits Booklet") A comprehensive description regarding the terms of coverage, including exclusions and limitations Retiree Anchor Pus Plan Benefits Booklet 2024 PDF file, about 1mbmegabytes Retiree Anchor Plan Benefits Booklet 2024 PDF file, about 1mbmegabytes Retiree Anchor Choice Plan Benefits Booklet 2024 PDF file, about 1mbmegabytes Monthly Premium Rates (2024)* Anchor Anchor Plus Anchor Choice Individual $774.70 $828.89 $769.12 Family** $2,171.86 $2,323.77 $2,156.19 * Premiums are deducted post-tax from pension checks.** If you want coverage for only two people, you may purchase two individual policies instead of a family policy to reduce your total premiums.
